Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Now collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first title since the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since March of that year.

Victory also signifies he has achieved 21 championships at 21 various events.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children together, so to get a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my child her name, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in that event in the past months.

The player's defensive play style and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused commentators to doubt if his skill to perform at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and compete assertively, supported by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair traded break points in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional title, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent saved 4 initial break points in a competitive final set before the Russian won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the net, with Moutet failing to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
